The Amberola, produced from 1909 to 1929 in various models, have internal
horns instead of exposed ones.
Amberola 1A (left) was marketed from 1909 to 1912 and played two- and four-
minute cylinders. This 1A machine has the "M" reproducer which plays both 2 and
4 minute cylinders using a flip-over stylus. The Amberola 1B plays only 4 minute
cylinders--the L reproducer when playing 4M wax Amberols and the Diamond A
playing 4M Blue Amberols. Both the A and B styles were costly, selling from $200
(for mahogany or oak) to $250 (for walnut). The playing mechanism on these
Amberola machines is very similar to that of the Opera.
